Pimp C’s Funeral Scheduled For Thursday

Pimp CFuneral arrangements for Pimp C, who passed away last week from unknown causes, are being planned for Thursday, Dec. 13, in his hometown of Port Arthur, Texas.

Pimp C, born Chad Butler, was found dead on Dec. 5 at the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles. Officials confirm there were no signs of foul play, and autopsy results will not be available for up to eight weeks.

According to a representative from Rap-A-Lot Records, the 33-year-old rapper was in California to perform alongside Too Short during several spot dates.

After family members hadn’t heard from Butler for several days, a phone call was placed to his hotel, and his dead body was discovered.

The memorial service will take place at the Robert A. Bowers Civic Center, about 90 miles east of Houston.

The funeral, which is open to the public, will begin at 11 a.m.

Representatives for UGK member Chad "Pimp C." Butler have come forward to address rumors spreading about his upcoming funeral and when and where it will take place.

While various reports have suggested that the rapper will be laid to rest this weekend in Houston, sources told AllHipHop.com that the rapper’s final resting place will be his hometown of Port Arthur, Texas.

His management confirmed that funeral arrangements are currently being made to hold the funeral on Thursday (December 13) at a yet-to-be-announced location.

A formal statement will be issued on Monday confirming the location of Pimp C’s funeral, which is expected to draw thousands of fans and supporters.

Pimp C., 33, was found dead in his hotel bed at Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles on Tuesday (December 5), just weeks shy of his 34th birthday.

While the Department of the Coroner is awaiting an official toxicology report to determine the cause of Pimp C.’s death, investigators believe that the rapper died of natural causes in his sleep.

In related news, UGK’s hit single "International Players Anthem (I Choose You)" was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group category, just days after his death.

The single is taken from UGK’s album Underground Kingz, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart in August.
